Welcome back Dream Center families! We are so glad to have you all here this year! There are so many great things planned for this year. The staff has worked so hard to make this year our best yet! It is exciting to be working again with the 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant this year. We are so grateful to have the funds currently to run a school year and summer program again this year. We also have some exciting Family Hours and STEM Saturdays planned. Keep an eye on the calendar for event details. I appreciate you and love having you as a part of The Dream Center Family. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns throughout the year.

Parent Reminders and Helpful Tips
- Remember to send in your favorite family recipe to Pam or Marilú by Dec17th. We will be making a Dream Center Family Cook Book.
- Remember to pick your child up no later than 6:00pm Monday – Thursday.
- Remember that we are tracking attendance for our attendance reward program that includes daily attendance and attendance to our Family Events. See Pam Hyatt with any questions.
- If your child needs to be picked up from school after a club, please write a note to Pam Hyatt with the date, time they need picked up, and what club. Make sure to sign and date the note.
- If your child is going to be absent, make sure to let Pam and Marilú know. Call or email
- Remember the staff is always here if you have questions or concerns. Please call Pam at 336-498-7751 if you need anything.
We are so grateful to all the families who showed up at our October Family Hours! It was a great evening to come together and learn more about what we will be doing at The Dream Center this year, meet some of our partners, and get to know each other more. Thanks to all who helped make this night so successful! Here are a few things parents learned about:

- How to help make homework time successful and why it is important kids read each night

Lights On After School
A big thank you to all our special guests from the community! It was a great day to celebrate the importance of after school in our community!
Clubs
We are so excited to start our second set of enrichment clubs from 4:45 pm - 5:40 pm Wednesday and Thursday. These are the clubs offered at this time
- Baking
- Singing and Stepping
- Sign Language
- 4th and 5th Grade STEM Club
- Crafts
- Art in Color
K -2 students are working so hard to complete homework and spend their extra time practicing math and reading skills. K-1 are working on number sense and sight words. 2nd grade is focusing on improving their reading comprehension with on level chapter books, place value, and money. This year 1st graders have a special STEM class once a week.
Grades 3-5 News
3-5 students are working on practicing life skills and working on collaboration through teamwork. They are also continuing, along with 2nd grade, to learn many different STEM concepts (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) during our daily STEM journal time after homework is complete.
Graders 1-2 Students Spotlight
Arabella Shortridge is a first grader here at The Dream Center. She loves the color purple, meatloaf, soccer, and cheerleading. Teachers love how dependable to answer questions and her ability to stay focused. She is also quick to follow directions and always does her best. When she gets older, she wants to be a Nurse. Her goals include being a good student and listening to her parents. She admires her mom, dad, and God because the Bible says to obey and listen to them. She loves God and wants to obey Him. Her favorite part of The Dream Center is Team Play and she loves how the Bible lessons helped her to learn to do her best. She also loves the extra help with her homework. We are so glad to have her here at The Dream Center and love how encouraging she is to everyone!
Grades 2-3 Student Spotlight
Valeria Moreno Sanchez is a 3rd grader here at The Dream Center. She loves pizza and playing basketball. When she grows up she wants to be a singer or a secretary. She has some great goals to graduate high school, go to college and have a family. She admires her sister because she has a good family, lives in Greensboro, and has her own house. Her favorite thing about The Dream Center is getting to do clubs and activities. She also loves learning about God and eating the food for dinner. All the teachers love how responsible she is and how bright she is. She works hard and is a great team player when we play games outside. She is such a great role model for all the students here at The Dream Center. Valeria always does her best at everything we ask he to do and she goes above and beyond. We are grateful to have such a dedicated student here! Her hard work is a model for all to follow.
Grades 4-5 Student Spotlight
Michael Alba Sanchez is one of our fifth graders. He loves the color blue, pizza, and to play soccer. Michael always has a great attitude and is always making people smile. He has a fantastic work ethic and he has become a great leader here. He gets along with everyone and is very pleasant to be around. People are always happier because of his attitude. He admires his parents because they raised him and took good care of him growing up. He wants to accomplish everything and be a good sport. When he grows up he wants to be a police officer or soccer player. His favorite thing to do at The Dream Center is clubs because we get to do fun activities and get to interact together. The Dream Center has inspired him to help others and do his best. Michael always wants to help others do their best and be a great helper. It is great having such a fun spirited and hardworking student.
Exciting News: Community Give Back!
The Dream Center is currently partnering with North Ridge Church, Lowes Hardware, and other local donors and volunteers to create an amazing community walking track and natural playground. Money was donated by Randolph Hospital Community Health Foundation for $5,000 and then community volunteers donated money throughout the year. Lowes Hardware of Asheboro has also donated up to $2,500 of in kind supplies to help create the natural playground area plus volunteers from Lowes Hardware to help put the playground together. There have also been many other donors and volunteers to help continue to create this great community space! This space will be a great place for Dream Center Students, their families, and the community. We can’t wait to see the finished product and celebrate together!
